There even wildlife super-predators which can kill even faster.
In the event you got lost in the desert of south Africa and tries to find your way out to civilization, the way to survive and defend yourself from predators is:
Make a spear for protection from predators
If you are behind any brushes and sighted lions up ahead of you, do not turn around quickly and run, but just back up walking backward slowly to where you have a little bit of cover. If you do run, it can trigger their instant to come after you faster and harder to make a kill. In the ancient day; human use spear as tools to go hunting and for protection, so it best to find a 8 to 9 feet long wooden stick to make a spear f0r protection than having nothing on hands.
Use a Shadow Stick as a Compass
To make a compass, simply place a stick straight up in the ground so you can see its shadow. Use a small object and place it on the very top of where the shadow is seen. A small rock or a leaf will work great. Wait about 20 minutes and the shadow will begin to move West. Again, mark the very tip of the shadow with an object and mark the sand or dirt with a “W” for West. Since you know that this mark is West, the first line is North. Draw straight lines vertically and horizontally to mark each direction. It is extremely important to label them so you don’t forget.
Build a shelter from thorn branch
If you found a thorn branch on the ground, use it to build a shelter from lots thorn branch to protect from predators like lions. The shelter should be taller shape like a dome and have more bigger space to move around. The thorn may help prevent lion from entering straight into you. If the lion jump up across from the wall of thorn branch, you may want to use the spear which you may already have to attack the lion before the lion hit the ground to attack face to face.

But that doesn’t mean you should starve to death. If you must eat, here are some tips you should consider. The food sources you can exploit are determined by the habitat you are in. Vary your diet to make sure you get the appropriate proportions of fat, protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.
You may find Ostrich eggs canteen in the desert and if it smell good it can be your food resource and if it is bad it still can can be use as water container.
If you seen bird flying at a distant, it may be a sign that there water because they’ll often circle over water.
Reptiles are a good protein source and relatively easy to catch. Thorough cooking and hand washing is imperative with reptiles. All reptiles are considered to be carriers of salmonella, which exists naturally on their skin.
